Most years we put up our tree the weekend after Thanksgiving. This year, however, I was in the Christmas mood very early so we did it the Sunday before Thanksgiving!
I always set up the tree and string the lights during the morning or early afternoon and then in the late afternoon/ evening we gather around the tree, I give out ornament piles, we put on the Carpenters Christmas album, and decorate!
It is always the Carpenters CD. I cannot decorate to any other album. Why? Because we did it that way in my family! There is one song that I always used to stop and march around to as a kid and that tradition is alive and well. All four of us marched around this year!
Each person not only has their designated ornaments but is also assigned a part of the tree. I let Abi choose and she chose the back bottom. I gave Maddy the bottom of the front. Doug had the back top and I had the front top.
Making magical memories...
Of course, there always has to be a picture of the girls in front of the tree after it is decorated...
Then.. oops! I realized we had forgotten the star. As Maddy gets bigger they will have to take turns putting the star up but for now it remains Abi's job.
