The Nutcracker

Saturday the 22nd, Doug and I took the girls to The Nutcracker at Capitol Theater.

We were SO excited. Abi and I went a few years ago in Wisconsin but this was Maddy's first time going to the ballet.

Maddy wore what Abi wore last time. An employee came over to us and said it was the perfect Nutcracker sweater.
I took a few picture of Doug and the girls before the performance.

There were a few times when both girls, especially Maddy, got restless and a little too loud. But they did mostly well and really enjoyed it.
Afterward we went to Training Table for dinner.

Later that night, Maddy came downstairs to show me a picture she had drawn of the mouse king.

Stringtown Polar Express

One of the best things we did this Christmas season was The Lindon Stringtown Polar Express.
They do this for free but it is so popular that you have to fill out a reservation form and hope you get in.
They said they had 8000 people wait listed.
But we got in!!

The night we went we bundled up... thank goodness.
It was FREEZING!
After we checked in, they had us go in the garage where they had chairs set up and the movie Polar Express playing.

Then when they called our names we got to go get on the "train".

They welcomed us and told us the rules/ safety info and then Maddy kept shouting things out to them.
"My gloves are purple! Its my favorite color!" which lead to a discussion on the color of gloves.
"We decorated our Christmas tree!"
"My name is Maddy!"

Then we were off. They played lots of fun music as we traveled around on the track for a few minutes.
We ended at the 'North Pole' and got off the train to go in.
Inside they had Santa and a bunch of retro toys.

Santa talked to them and then gave them a candy cane. Then one of the elves gave each of them a bell necklace.

Then Santa showed them the candy cane and told them the legend of the candy cane. We all sang Silent Night.
Then we got on the train again for the ride back. This time there were pictures of Jesus along the way and they played religious Christmas music.

This was so much fun!

Disney On Ice: Passport to Adventure

In the middle of November, Doug went to California with his friends to the Blizzard Convention.
My mom stayed with us for a couple of days which made it feel like the old Wisconsin days.
The 6th we went to The Energy Solutions arena to see Disney on Ice.
It was both my mom's and Maddy's first time going to a Disney ice show.

The girls dressed in their mickey and Minnie shirts.
We had great seats.

Maddy got a lollipop and my mom got Abi a coloring book.

proof that I was there...

It was so much fun! Maddy started yelling "Mickey!! It's me Maddy!" as soon as they came out.

They did Little Mermaid, Lion King, Lilo and Stitch, and Peter Pan.
