Junior Princess

Finally the Princess Preschool has come to an end. It was originally a ten week plan but I scaled it down a few weeks. We finished by making some fairy cakes, pink lemonade, cookie cutter peanut butter sandwiches, and clementines for lunch. Abi wore the tiara she made the first day and all of us ate together. At the end of the tea party we presented Abi with her junior princess certificate and a princess bag with a Princess Handbook and princess crayons in it.Then we ended the day a few hours later with popcorn and Little Mermaid 2. It has been a lot of fun to do this with Abi.
On her birthday when she made her wish she wished to become a beautiful princess. She told me this later because she didn't think it had come true. I told her she was one but she didn't believe me... so it was fun for her to do things to become a junior princess. This may seem silly to some people but I love this kind of stuff and so does she.

Princess school day fifteen

This was Monday. We played out in the snow for awhile and then Abi got a bath so school was held late. While I got dinner ready she was making this princess headdress. The table was a mess because she was painting glue on and then ripping up tissue paper to put on it. I will show the finished product later.

princess school days thirteen and fourteen

On day thirteen we made caterpillers...

On day fourteen we made butterfly cupcakes. These were really fun and easy.. it was a small batch of six.. and very tasty.

Princess school day twelve and pancakes

Abi made some cute fairy puppets and we made up a puppet show to show Daddy that night. This was the night I posted about the other day when we were "making her drive nuts!"

Saturday morning I always make pancakes. That morning she requested Minnie Mouse pancakes. She wanted her to have a polka dotted bow.. this was the best I could do.

princess school day eleven

This was over a week ago and I don't remember all of what we did but we ended it with making this 'funky fairy'. Abi loved flying it around.

Princess School day Ten

Today Abi got to use watercolor paint for the first time and she loved it. Funny thing is when I told her that we were going to paint with watercolors, she went and put on a swimsuit.
Later, after the paper had dried, we made it into a princess fan. You can see Abi is in another outfit.
Then we made Heart shaped Confetti Cookies.

Princess School day Nine

This day we read some princess stories, made Valentines cupcakes, and Abi painted a self portrait! She explained that in the picture she has long hair and a top knot.

Princess School day Eight:

Once again it was a baking project that called for the dough to sit in the fridge for awhile so we prepared that first.
I really love these little prep bowls. They make it so easy to have Abi help without making too big of a mess.
This was a chocolate based cookie.
While it was cooling and then cooking we read Cinderella and discussed it.
When the cookies were done I made swirls on them and Abi used a toothpick to make lines on them to make 'Cobweb Cookies'. I'm really not sure what that had to do with princesses.. but it's the curriculum and it's fun!

Princess School day Seven:

Today we read 'The Silly Willies" and talked about what silly things we would probably do if the Silly Willy Fairies whispered into our ears at night. The silliest thing Abi could think of was that the fairies would fly to Heavenly Father. Ehh?
Then we made silly faces. That was pretty funny.
After that we set to work making a door hanger. This was pretty fun.
As soon as she was finished it went on her door. She was pretty excited about that.

Maddy hanging out in Abi's room while we hung it up..

Princess School day Six:

Because we were cooking again, I got all the ingredients ready beforehand. We needed to let the dough sit in the fridge for a while too so we put it together before our story.
Then Abi did a fairy puzzle she loves to do. It's a really easy one where you just put four pieces together to create fairies so at this point she doesn't have to think about it anymore and she sits and makes up stories and conversations while she puts them together.
We read all about princesses from the Princess Treasury book and looked at the pictures of real princesses from all over the world and found out what it would be like to be one.
Then the dough was finally ready and we cut out the hearts. We then had to cut little hearts out of the middle of those and then dip them into a pink sugar mix.
This made Spangly Sparkly Heart Cookies. Pretty but not so tasty... which isn't a bad thing. We didn't make very many so we each had one and then she has had a couple since but the rest of us aren't tempted! Yay.

Princess School day five:

We began school by reading Fairy Nuff and the Goggle Monster out of the Fairy stories book and talking about bravery.

We added a Groundhog day book because of it being groundhog day. Unfortunately we didn't do anything else having to do with Groundhogs.. but we had fun anyway.

This picture was supposed to be last. After getting tired of our project of the day, she just wanted to paint a normal picture at her easel. She called it "The girl with the long yellow hair".

Back to school, we were doing 'printed fairies'. It was basically making fairies on paper with sponges and cardboard. First she made the bodies and heads with the sponges I had cut up.

Then added hair and arms and legs with a piece of cardboard.

She got tired of the cardboard and used a paint brush. She drew on one face and then wanted me to do the others. She was tired of it by then. She didn't even want to put the pink wings on. I don't think it was turning out the way she wanted because it didn't look the way it did in the book. Hmm... I wonder where she gets that from?

Princess School day four:

I've just noticed that I had forgotten to clean Abi's face off before pictures so don't mind the smudges... can't believe I didn't notice that!
So, day four we read another story from the fairy book and then made a fairy wand. We cut stars out of cardboard and then glued ribbon and a straw in between the two stars.
Abi didn't enjoy having to let it dry very much because we had to put it under a heavy book and let it sit for an hour.
but that gave her a chance to change her clothes AGAIN and then decorate the wand with glitter glue
and sparkly things...

the finished wand...

Princess School Day three

We started out the day with The Princess Who Wouldn't Get Married from the Princes and Princesses book. It was pretty funny at the end when we were discussing it and I asked Abi why she thought the princess didn't want to marry any of the princes. She said, "Maybe she was just too too shy to do that." I thought that was cute.

We then made glittery Fairy bookmarks.

This is the first one she made. I was so impressed with the face. It is amazing to me how fast kids go from not being able to do faces to doing them so well.
She had so much fun making this that she just had to make some more.

Here she is making the second one -originally meant for Grandma and Grandpa because "Grandma loves reading too!" but then she decided to give it to Daddy instead.

Then that gave her the excuse to make one more for Grandma and Grandpa. This one she made a "silly" face (or as Abi says it... "Siyyee")

It was great to have a special bookmark because at bedtime last night I let Abi pick from a few chapter books I thought she would like and we read a chapter after her normal bedtime book. This way we are able to use her bookmark.
What did she pick? Pippi in the South Seas!
