The birthday party

Lately, no matter how I load them, my pictures always end up backwards but I do not want to take the time to put them in order so here we go...
This morning was Abi's 3rd birthday party with her friends. This year I said who do you want to come to the party and wrote down the five names she said.
So here is our day starting at the end:
In tonight's advent pocket there was a note saying that she could open up one family birthday present early. She picked one from my mom and dad. She was thrilled with the Dora book! We had to read it 3 times before bed.

We got a Christmas package from my brother and sister in law Brent and karen today that had a gift for me and one for Abi (in my family we pick names so they had the two of us) and in it there was also a little gift bag for Abi. She found it and thought her bday party was still going and opened it. I went with it. Karen, when she pulled out the bath paint I thought it was deodarant at first. funny. She loves it and the chapstick!! She was putting chapstick on for the rest of the night carrying it around in her little pocket.

Cake time

Jake was not happy. He was missing his mom. He sat for a minute to give the gift and then ran off.

I love the look on John's face.

Opening presents:

the last stop was Mexico to talk about the nativities that people put out. They colored little puzzles of the nativity scene.

The next stop was the Ukraine: We made snow necklaces for the Snowflake girl that rides with Santa Claus. Abi did really well with this and had almost got every candy on the necklace when the string broke. It all fell off but I helped her put most of them back on and tied it on her neck. She loved it.

We all got on a blanket with our candy cane batons and pretended to be going for a ride in Rocket. The party had a Little Einsteins Christmas theme so we went to 3 different countries to do something to do with their Christmas traditions. The first country was Holland. We talked about their shoes and they colored pictures of little boys and girls from Holland.

Abi was really anxious for her friends to get here. She was so happy with her cake and the stockings I made for each guest. I figured the favors could be the activities that we did but I wanted something cute to put them in so I sewed up these stockings last night with their names on them while we watched White Christmas.

Preschool and Birthday prep

Preschool: here they are with their gumdrop trees- worst idea ever! Those toothpicks are dangerous. Just ask my punctured finger and the two little girls that kept saying "ouch."The giant ornaments were the parent presents.

I just finished making Abi's cake a few minutes ago. I started this at about 7am and worked on it until preschool started and then again after lunch until now... so here it is ready for the party. Now I must go clean up the mess I made making it.
