Pick a park: Wild West Park

Last week we went out to West Valley to swim with my brother and sister in law Karen. I decided to stop at the Wild West Park in West Jordan for the first time since we would be passing it.
It was a really cool park.

I thought we would stay a long time but because it was so hot the girls wanted to leave after about twenty minutes. We will have to go back when it gets cooler!
We got to the pool early so we sat in the car and had our picnic and then went swimming as soon as my family got there.
It is an awesome pool and really cheap to get into.

It was Root beer day so on our way home we stopped at A&W and got free root beer floats!

Hike and Pick a Park: Provo Canyon plus Seven Peaks

This week our hike and park were just me and Abi.
She got a free ticket to Seven Peaks and I bought myself one with a groupon deal so we sent Maddy off to zoo day at my niece Mckenna's kid's camp and Abi and I went for a day of fun.
Seven peaks didn't open until 12 for us so we drove up Provo Canyon and did a little walk along the river for our hike.
Then we stopped at this park to play until it was time to go.

We went to Seven Peaks and swam for awhile.
We ended up having a great time. I'm not a huge fan of seven peaks but Abi really liked it.

Water play in the yard

After playing at the park we drove over to a place I read about called Manila Park Lake. I had read that it was a fun place to swim and play in the sand. But it was actually really small, had hardly any sand and what it had was sloped and had been used often by dogs apparently. The girls were in their swimsuits and very disappointed. So we went home. I found out where the nozzle for the outside water was and we set up the slip and slide in the backyard.
The girls had a lot of fun and I enjoyed sitting in my lounge chair reading!

Water Play: Whatever you can find

A few weeks ago I picked up a slip and slide and the girls were so excited on Friday to finally try it out after I had picked up a hose from the store.
We got their suits on, sunscreen on, set up the slip and slide on the little hill in our yard, and went to put the hose on.
Then I realized our hose hookup did not have a wheel to turn it on! What?
I searched the garage, called Doug, and tried everything I could think of to get the water to turn on. I found another faucet on the side of the garage and it doesn't have a wheel either.???
So, the girls were really disappointed.  I tried to figure out something else to do.
We did some water balloons but they would basically toss it to each other and they would fall on the ground and burst. Not much fun.
I filled up two pitchers with water and Abi and I chased each other and Maddy around dumping them on each other. That was fun but only lasted a few minutes.
Then I got an idea.
I went in the garage and turned the sprinkler system on.
That worked. The girls had a blast running through the sprinklers and going down the wet slide.
