Funny story. Hopefully you won't mind another picture free post. Last night I had to go to the eye doctor to 'finalize' my prescription for contacts... never had to do that before but whatever. Anyway, he was asking me about how many kids I have and told me he had a lady come in the other day that had 6 kids under 10 and talked about how hard that would be. Then he said, " I mean, what are you, a Mormon?" It caught me off guard and I just started laughing.
"Well, I've only got 1 1/2 and I'm a mormon."
"You are? Seriously?" He looked so shocked.
We went on to discuss being Mormon and the misconceptions people have.
He even asked if we were 'allowed' to use birth control.
I just thought it was so funny.

Great missionary moment Cheryl! That is really funny. I can totally see you laughing at him, and settting him straight. Way to go!
I've been asked before if we are allowed to wear make-up, dance, and all kinds of other craziness. Some people just don't get out much, and I guess that's why we're so encouraged to be good missionaries.
My eye doctor asks me about Mormons every single visit because he knows I moved here from Utah.
I also have to go back 3-4 times before they finalize my prescription. I thought the guy had a crush on me but maybe that is just how they do it in Wisconsin...ha,ha!
If we have the same doc he must be ready for missionaries since he likes to talk about Mormons so much.
Kind of private asking you about birth control though...yikes!
My favorite "misconception" about us Mormons, is that we sacrifice virgins by making them jump off the top of the temple into the Great Salt Lake! I asked the individual if they had ever looked at a map of Salt Lake...and the answer was no...of course not. I then proceeded to show them by drawing a map... it was kind of funny! I've been asked about the dancing thing too... nice missionary moment Cheryl! Love ya1
I've been wondering where you went! I haven't seen you blogging as much.
And I love all the Mormon myths.
Make sure you share that one in RS so you can get your M&M's. Thats great! Ryan has never had to go back to finalize here. Maybe there is something up with that doctor and mormons and/or women! Weird.
People are so funny about "mormons" it cracks me up!
That's so funny! I'm glad you turned it into a little teaching experience for him!
