We have had our share of sickness around here the past couple of weeks. First Abi with her double ear infection and pink eye. She still has a cough. Then Maddy had a really bad cold.
Then it got to me. I have been fighting the worst cold of my life for over a week now and finally went to the dr. this morning.
The good news was that I didn't have ear infections or strep which I was a little concerned about. But I did have a sinus infection, an upper respiratory infection, and pink eye as well (which is why I finally gave in and went).
I think it's funny that on normal days I have to force myself to get on the treadmill but now that I haven't worked out since last Monday, I'm dying to get going again. Finding out I needed to lay around and rest for a few more days annoyed me. What is wrong with me? I should be rejoicing...an excuse to be lazy. :)
Anyway, I will be back on the blog soon with some little posts but I thought I would give a little info to why I have been absent on my blog and in real life.

Easter Sunday
We were all excited to come down Sunday morning to see what the Easter bunny had brought.
Maddy loved her bunny glasses...
Maddy loved her bunny glasses...
Abi was thrilled with the Lalaloopsy movie!
She liked her glasses too. And by the way, her eye is not crossed. She is looking to the side.
Maddy with her fun stuff...
Abi's loot...
My basket .
Doug got lots of candy and the blue ray of TinTin.
For breakfast we had "souper"eggs and orange cranberry scones. I was shocked that the girls didn't like the scones. I thought they turned out great. Everyone always loves the eggs- they look gross but are so good and easy.
The girls got so cute in the new Easter dresses from Doug's parents. Maddy's didn't look quite right with a white bonnet so I used a yellow polka dot one that goes with a different outfit and I think it worked! Of course her shoes weren't that matchy because the shoes that came with the dress were too small and I realized that morning that she grew out of her white sandals. Still cute though!
Abigail Anne
Madeline Monet
After church we had ham, rolls, and mashed potatoes for dinner. Maddy was tired.
Easter Saturday
This year I decided to do our family egg hunt on Saturday. It was a lot of fun to watch everyone try to find all the eggs. I filled some of them with candy, some with Squinkies, and 2 special golden eggs with money- $1 in one and $2 in one (yeah, not too exciting).
Abi thought it was really funny that I put an egg on top of the thermostat...
Maddy collecting...
Doug found the first golden egg- the $2 one.
Maddy found this tricky one under a sofa cushion... okay maybe I pointed her to it.
Abi found the other golden egg!
Maddy opening her eggs...
Abi was pretty excited about her squinkies...
I then pulled out a game with some suction bunnies. They go flying in the air and you have to try to catch them. It was pretty tricky. In this shot you can see one of them flying over Abi's head.
Then the girls decorated bunnies..
Madeline's bunnies....
Abigail's bunnies...
Next we colored eggs.
then played a game...
while Maddy danced with her bunnies...
Abi's friend Evan (the boy that brought her the drawing a while back) brought her an Easter basket with eggs in it. So cute.
To finish off the night we watched The Easter Beagle Charlie Brown movie for movie night, put Maddy down for bed, and then let Abi plant some flowers that I'm thinking might die in this newly cold weather.
Books, books, and more books
I don't think there is such a thing as owning too many books. In fact, I buy more often than I borrow and I very rarely get rid of a book.
As I was having fun with my obsessive board on books on Pinterest, I thought it would be fun to take some pictures of the places around our home that I have books stashed.
First, in our bedroom I have a corner that is basically my reading/scripture study/computer/treadmill area. I know that is a lot of stuff for one spot... but it works. In this corner I have my 'favorites' bookshelf. It has most of my favorite books on it. I also use it for displaying my Gryffindor scarf and Hermione's wand. (on top)
Behind my bedroom door I have another bookshelf that has my churchy books (church subjects and authors) and other misc. books that I enjoy but aren't favorite enough anymore to be on my favorites shelves... yes my books have classes. I am ashamed.
Next to the closet I have my childhood dresser with its shelves full of my favorite children's books plus a few other non-children ones. As you can see L.M. Montgomery takes up almost the entire top shelf. The drawers of this dresser also hold many holiday books and some comic books.
Downstairs in our front room I have my magazine rack that usually has some books in it, my red basket that I keep library books in, and the basket that has the current holiday books. On the chair arm you can see the book I am currently reading.
Abi's room has a few books as well. On her beds headboard she keeps all of her favorite chapter books... mostly the Rainbow fairies series.
Also in Abi's room she has this book holder full of her favorite books....
A shelf in our laundry room has become a spot for some extra books...
Beatrix Potter has a special place in our stairway...
The majority of our kids books are in the family room (in the green baskets and on the shelves) .
Maddy has two buckets of her favorite board books in her cozy spot in her room too.
Not to mention the couple of boxes in the basement of textbooks, church books, and other holiday books. Yep, it's an addiction. And I love it. I love being surrounded by books. My kindle never gets used. Now I just need that library with the secret doorway, fireplace, and ladder that I have been dreaming about since I was a girl!

Easter is almost here!
We can tell by the plastic eggs that we keep tripping over in the house, the constant egg hunts with the girls, and the fun of decorating and delivering Easter egg cookies....
We also got some fun packages from both of our parents. The girls got $5 each from my parents so today we went to Target while we were out delivering cookies and Abi used all the money she had saved up and pooled it with Maddy's money to get them this pony set. They both love it!
Play group easter egg hunt
At play group this week Kelley hosted an Easter egg hunt in her backyard. Maddy didn't really get what we were about to do and was trying to look for eggs in the house.. I mean it is what she is used to!
But once outside she was running around like crazy and passing up all sorts of eggs in her excitement. It was so cute.
some of the kids...
