Christmas Day

I love Christmas so much!
So onto the fun!
Everyone wanted to get back into pajamas after church so we hurried and did that and then we took turns with all of the gifts. Abi would open one, then Maddy, then me, then Doug. We did that until they were all gone!
The #1 gift on Abi's list: a cardboard castle she could color!
Maddy got a record player that Doug and I both had as kids. It is so nostalgic!
Abi was so excited that her zhu zhu pet was not only a princess but purple as well!
Maddy got  zhu zhu princess too!
the other things she really, really wanted- a zhu zhu castle...
some new Barbie movies...
Yay! Minnie jammies! Doug is checking out his Lego Heroica game I got him.
Maddy got the Disney version of Pictureka. She doesn't know what it is but is excited it has Mickey on it!
Abi was so excited about the Strawberry Shortcake clubhouse.
Maddy's mega doodler...
Doug is opening his gift from Abi. I love the look on her face. She just loves giving gifts!
She made him some Root Beer reindeer...
Maddy was over the top excited about her Minnie Mouse pillow pet!
And you can see in this picture that while the rest of us were taking turns she was just snuggling Minnie!
Doug opening the big basket from my parents full of fun stuff! He was very excited about the Lego Creationary game.
Maddy trying to put on her new Minnie pajamas from her cousin McKenna...
She opened this outfit with a Hello Kitty hat from my parents. She was so excited!
She had to put the hat on right away!
"How do I look?"
She wore it most of the day.
Abi was excited to get Sleeping Beauty magnet dolls and a new book from her cousin Matthew.
Always loving new books...
I love this look on Abi's face as she opened the remote controlled Strawberry Shortcake car from my parents!
They both were happy about the Busytown airport game Maddy got from my parents.

Abi loves her new unicorn purse from my parents and found out that it had $5 in it too!

I wish you could see Abi's face here. She gave Maddy this envelope for a gift and was laughing hysterically the whole time she was opening it. It was a bunch of black pieces of construction paper Abi had cut up.
She meant it to be funny but Maddy kept saying, "Ooh! Thank you! Ooh! A rectangle!"

My sister gave me a beautiful necklace with an A and an M on it for my girls and that pretty snowflake ornament.
My uncle gave me some popcorn and a pot holder.

Doug's gifts:
from the girls and I he got a paint by number paint kit (he used to like to do those and I thought it would be fun),  a shadow box with our Disney pins in it, a Shadow box with his signed World of Warcraft box from when he met the creators, a new set of headphones, a wallet with some McDonalds gift certificates in it, the reindeer root beer, a raid night survival kit consisting of some treats and caffeine, the Heroica game, and a sweater.
He got the movie Paul Blart mall cop from my uncle.
From my brother Brent he got a really nice journal and pen.

A couple hours later I had them search for the Christmas pickle on the tree. Abi found it and got the extra gift...
I'm glad she found it because I thought she would and it was a Playmobil set.
We had Christmas dinner picnic style with our traditional ham and potatoes and Christmas crackers. I actually had more planned but decided I wanted us all to eat only what Abi could eat.
Maddy with her crown.
We love our crowns and Abi was so happy hers was purple!
We watched Abi's new Barbie movie, 'A Perfect Christmas' which was cute..
It was an amazing Christmas and we feel so blessed.

Christmas morning

I was so excited for Christmas morning. It had been a crazy weekend so far and not like we expected at all... but on Christmas Eve we were playing ring around the rosy as a family and Abi actually laughed. It hurt her a bit but it was the first time I had seen her smile and laugh since the accident. It made me so happy!
I knew she would have plenty of reasons to smile the next day so I couldn't wait to see those smiles!
Christmas morning I woke up around 5 like normal and even though the kids were still asleep I couldn't go back to sleep. Of course the one day I can't sleep longer they both slept until 7!!!! I couldn't believe it.
Santa always leaves a snuggle buddy with the girls so I knew Maddy woke up when I heard her say, "OH!!" and start singing Rudolph the red nosed reindeer. It was so darn cute.
She got Clarisse from Rudolph. Abi also got a reindeer- her first webkinz. Maddy is holding both in the picture.
I have to give major credit to our girls. Abi was so excited when she saw her big pile of Santa gifts that morning but never once asked to open them. I had decided that since we had church in the morning we would only do stockings before church and then do the rest of the gifts after. I didn't want to be rushing through gifts to get ready on time and then have no time to enjoy them.
The girls were totally fine with that and never said a word about it.

Maddy was excited about Abi's gumballs...
Abi was excited to see all the treats but sad that she really couldn't eat any of them until her mouth is completely healed.
Maddy grabbed the rest of a cookie Santa didn't finish and was more excited about that than taking things out of her stocking... but then she realized there were more treats in there.

Abi got some squinkie grab bags and these are two of the ones she got in them.
My stocking stuff....
Doug's stocking treats...
Maddy thought the whole thing was candy!
Doug got a Star Wars lightsaber lip balm that lights up. Maddy loved it.
Doug got some Lego mini figures. These are the ones they had inside. I think the boom box girl is hilarious.
After doing stockings, we did our last ornament on the Jesse tree. Here's what it looks like after the entire month...
Then we did the last Advent tree pocket. It told Abi to look in the big red bag where she found a magnetic nativity set to play with at church.
Although we had finished the puzzle the night before, we took 10 pieces back out and let Abi 'finish' it during breakfast...
Soon it was time to get ready for church. I thought the girls looked darling in these dresses...
It was a little sad at church. The primary kids went up to sing and I was so looking forward to seeing Abi do it... but she just didn't want to go up. I understood completely. It hurt to sing. So she stayed with us and we watched the other kids sing.
