I just got this from my brother and had to share it. It is a video of my brother in law Dan taken by my brother Greg introducing their new Olympic sport. I wish I'd been there!

Dancing Girl
We had some pictures posted yesterday of Abi on Christmas day dancing to Doug's new CD. I tried to get it on video as much as possible so here is a little video of her dancing over the past two days... it is a little long so only watch if you really want to see her dancing! I love the abandon with which she dances! Keep an ear out for her singing along.

Pink Christmas
I have to do a shout out for my Pink Christmas gift. I've mentioned before that I did a Pink Christmas this year- a charity thing where you each donate a little and then make homemade things for someone else taking part. I showed a picture of the gift I sent out. Jinii sent me an amazing package! We were thrilled when we opened it. I say 'we' because there was a gift for Abi as well. She sent me this darling bag and some of my favorite treats and she made that fabulous tutu for Abi. Being a part of Pink Christmas has been a great experience! Thanks Jinii!
What did we do today?
1.We woke up at 4 am. Yes, 4 AM!! I could not get Abi to go back to sleep because as soon as she woke up she found her new hippo stuffed animal from Santa in bed with her and realized she was in a BED!! So we just had to go downstairs to see what else Santa had brought!

2.We put up the last piece of the nativity puzzle- the picture of little Baby Jesus

3.Then we got busy opening gifts from Santa, family and friends, and each other. Abi loved the Santa bag Grammy and Grandfather sent her gift in. Here she is checking out what is in it..

4. As soon as Abi opened up her part of my Pink Christmas gift she had to put on her new tutu and wear it most of the day!
5. Abi couldn't believe she got a castle with a DRAGON in it! (Even though she was there the day Grandma showed her two different castles and asked her which one she liked the best.)

6. Played for HOURS with her new Littlest Pet Shop sets from Santa and Grandma and Grandpa

7. Tried to keep Daddy from doing this..

8. Had so many picnics and tea parties we lost count... most of them catered by Pez.

9. Kept going up to see Abi's new bed (we asked Grammy and Grandfather for this for our gift this year and we set it up last night after Abi went to bed and then went in and stuck her in it while she was asleep. So she woke up in this bed with that hippo- the Madeline doll was one of her gifts from Grammy and Grandfather)

10. Finally put up the vinyl lettering we had Aunt Samantha make last September. We wanted to wait until she had a bed so it would be directly over it.

11. Played for HOURS with the castle. We loved listening to her stories she was making up while playing with it. The king and dragon had some great conversations.

12. Marveled at the beautiful bows Aunt Karen made for Abi. I can't wait to have her wear all of them.

13. Had computer time....

14. Danced all over the place to Dad's new Alphabeat CD.. We love this band around here.

15. Watched the new Narnia movie from my mom and dad. Loved it! I was a little surprised it was only PG though because there is so much more fighting and action than the first one.
16. Decided not to dress up like we had originally planned for Christmas dinner because we were all too exhausted.. but we did still do Christmas crackers, I made ham, mashed potatoes, salad, and rolls, and we wore our little crowns while we ate.

17. Breathed a sigh of relief that night is here and the little one is asleep. We can now blog and rest and get some sleep! I love Christmas!

Christmas Eve
It has been a magical night!
We had a busy morning. I cleaned the house and did laundry to ensure that the house would be in its most relaxing state for tonight and tomorrow.... Doug was home but he was in our room on his work laptop working. Abi was in a good mood but very excited. She ended up taking a nap thankfully so we were both able to get all our work done. When she woke up we started watching Kung Fu Panda but turned it off before it was over because we wanted to watch the Nativity story this evening.
I decided to make one of our new favorite meals tonight... Pork burritos enchilada style- it is a recipe we got from a friend and they taste just like the ones you get at Cafe Rio. It is a pretty labor intensive meal so I spent most of the day doing little things here and there for it. Abi helped me to wash the cilantro...

After dinner we turned off the movie and gathered around the tree for our Christmas eve tradition of new pajamas. I love this tradition so I was really excited. Abi didn't really remember it so she had no idea what she was getting to open.

She was thrilled when she opened these slippers. She told me the other day she wanted to dance ballet so we got a ballet video from the library. While I was trying to do the video with her she got frustrated because, "I don't have any ballet slippers!" She thought these slippers were ballet slippers. She squealed and put them on immediately and walked around the rest of the night on her toes!

She was very excited about her new jammies as well!

Then she got to open the present for Bitty Baby while Bitty looked on.

They had to put on their matching pajamas right away! Abi kept saying, " I love Christmas Eve! I love my prize! I love this!" It was wonderful.

Doug and I opened our new jammies too and changed into them. While Doug was changing Abi and I took a bunch of silly pictures of ourselves.

I had to get one of daddy and daughter while I positioned the camera for our group photo.

We love new pajamas!

Bitty Babies pajamas came with a little book so I read it to Abi and then she read it to Bitty Baby.

Then we did our last night of advent (tomorrow we will do it in the morning) and stuck up our second to last picture of our nativity puzzle. We read from Luke and Abi and I acted it out with her Fisher Price nativity.

After all this, she played for awhile, we watched some more of the movie, and drank eggnog with sprite.

The laziest Sunday ever
Saturday night it only snowed a few more inches but the wind went crazy. It blew snow everywhere so our nicely shoveled driveway and sidewalk to our front door ended up looking like this:

It was -34+ outside with the wind chill so they cancelled church. We decided to spend the afternoon making a gingerbread house. I had never made one from a pre made kit before. It was interesting..... but fun. I'm not so sure if it is really edible or not but Abi wants to try!

The finished product...

After we cleaned up our gingerbread aftermath Abi got into pirate mode.

Then we spent the rest of the day like this..

Doug played his computer game, I read in the beanbag next to them, and Abi played and watched some Max and Ruby videos from the library. It was actually really fun and relaxing. We knew my family was all together in Utah for the family Christmas party so it felt weird to be alone in our home but they did call us later and I got to talk to everyone.

This is a video we made for some of our family for Christmas. I thought I'd post it on here because I like it so much!

What a morning!
Today was the long awaited breakfast with Santa at church. We were pretty excited. Abi seemed excited. Every year her picture with Santa has been a crying one or on mom or dads lap. This year I thought she might actually sit on his lap or at least stand next to him.
On the drive over she told us the things she wanted to ask him for. She exclaimed when we got to the church that we must be going to the North Pole. She stood in line for quite a while with us without seeming scared at all.

Then she got on the stairs and she started seeming nervous....

Then it was her turn. Not only did she cry and refuse to go near him but she ran away crawling under a Santa decoration and a curtain and into a corner where Doug and I had to go find her.

I told her she didn't have to go anywhere near Santa but lets go down off the stage and she kept saying it was too bright and no. I tried to drag her out where I could pick her up. Finally I got her out of the corner and we went to the other side of the stage. Her friend Jake was over there and she followed him toward the tree where I got the best with santa picture we are going to get this year:

Then she turned around and ran back to me. We then went down to the tables to eat a little- she was happy about the bananas. We only had about 5 minutes before we were pretty much ushered out of there so they could clean up but at least she got some bananas first.

We were all kind of cranky afterward but since then I have realized how unimportant that whole thing was. Who cares if she will go near or sit on Santa's lap. I probably wouldn't either.
