Snowbird

Abi is doing a fun thing with Doug's mom called Miss Manners.
Every other Monday they get together to learn.
So, a few weeks ago after Abi's first Miss Manners activitiy, I took advantage of already being up in Sandy to drive up the canyon to check out the fall colors.
I was going to turn around after a few minutes but Abi asked if we could please go all the way up to Snowbird.
It is one of her favorite places after spending some time there this past summer riding the tram and hiking.
So, we got there and watched some ducks and then decided to go on this bridge I had never been on before. I thought it probably just looped around the pond.

It was pretty cold... but my girls are like me and tend to not notice that too much.
So they had some fun playing in the snow..

on the bridge...
So we got across the bridge and around a corner and found a hidden park! We were so excited!!
I had no idea this was here but it is a fantastic park.
The girls had so much fun playing there.

I think it is probably pretty hard to find a park with a prettier backdrop..

We love fall! and mountains!

General Conference

This year I forgot about doing anything for General Conference until the day before.
I pulled out some things I had in our gift closet (where I store things that I get on clearance throughout the year) and made a quick trip to the store for some goodies.
I also pulled the GC board out of storage but I didn't take the time to change the people that had been released and called... maybe by next spring that will be done.
Maddy started the day as MinnieBelle being silly as usual..

We set up their fort and they both immediately climbed in and snuggled.

Last year I had things they would open when certain people spoke. This time I did a 'store'. They earned points for being reverent during a talk, filling out their papers, and being able to put subjects the speaker had talked about up on the board. When each talk was over I would ask two questions. One hard and one easy about that talk. They would get points for the right answers.
Then between speakers we would pause it and they could shop.

Hair Cuts

We decided to cut the girls' hair and donate it.
Abi decided she wanted bangs and so Maddy wanted them too.
We went to the nearby cookie cutters.
They got to pick their cars and their show to watch..
making sure it is long enough to donate...
the first snip..
Woah!
He was showing Maddy her braids...
out of order... here he is cutting off Maddy's braids...
cutting the bangs...

As soon as Maddy saw herself with bangs she busted out laughing.

Abi was super excited!

Getting washed...
the hair to be donated... I think the difference is really funny. Maddy definitely has my thin hair.

The finished cuts....

Aren't they adorable???
I took them to McDonalds for lunch afterward and we did some shopping to make it an official girls day.
The craziest thing was when we got home and put a picture of me at Maddy's age next to her now that she had the same haircut I had.
Kinda crazy!

The Dentist

It was time to go to the dentist and for Maddy to have her first appointment. I decided to try to find a pediatric dentist. I lucked out finding one just down the road that took our insurance.
It is such a cute place!
They have this little cottage with toys and video games and then you go through the tree house to get to the offices...

Maddy getting her first x-rays.
Abi played in the office video game area while Maddy had her turn..
Maddy did so good. She wasn't scared and did what they told her to do so that was great.

Girls Night In

One night while Doug was at bagpipe lessons, the girls and I decided to have some fun with the newly unpacked Halloween things.
We put on Halloween music and the girls ran through the room trying to be so fast that when I took the picture they would look like a ghost.

They may or may not have been sick of me taking pictures...

I taught Abi how to suction a cup onto her face...

And I made these little gals...
