Christmas Day

I woke up around 2 and could not go back to sleep. I checked to see if Santa had come yet. He had!
Doug's stocking was in one chair...
and mine in the other...
Abi came running into our room at full speed at about 6am because she was so happy.
Santa leaves the girls a new stuffed animal in bed with them when he stops by. Maddy wanted the My Little Pony Rainbow Dash and Abi wanted Rarity of course. She was afraid she wouldn't get it though because at the store we have never seen one.
She couldn't wait to show me that she had indeed woken up with a Rarity!
The girls waiting at the top of the stairs with their new buddies...
checking out their things...
Maddy immediately noticed the Jingle ornament in the top of her stocking and was so excited.
We let them dig through their stockings first and then we went through ours. Maddy had to be encouraged to keep going once she found the chocolate "eyeballs" (truffles).

Mine was the ultimate nerd stocking with a Gryffindor shirt, a sonic screwdriver keychain, and a Deathly hallows keychain.
Then the opening of the gifts began.
The girls had their Santa gifts, gifts from grandparents and cousins, and each other and could pick each turn what they wanted to open. We went around in a circle taking turns opening as we always do. But, we did take a small break for breakfast after a few gifts.
Abi was ecstatic about her My Little Pony train car!
Maddy with her new Scribble and write...

Another happy look with the Twilight Sparkle balloon...
Hello Kitty Lego set...
Maddy's most wanted gift- Belle from Hallmark!

She was so excited to open her very own Bitty Baby from Doug's parents!
I love this picture. As she is opening her stroller from Santa she just had that chocolate hanging out of her mouth...

Doug was very excited about his old school game from my brother Brent...
Look at that cute face happy to see a minnie mouse book from her cousin Matthew.

Christmas Eve

We took a break from our Legos and movies after dinner to open our traditional Christmas Eve gifts- pajamas and books!
Maddy went first. She recently fell in love with a Littlest Pet shop book from the library and while I couldn't find exactly the same one I did find a different LPS book. When she saw it she got so excited and said, "I have one of my very own!"
The girls both got two books this year and American Girl pajamas that I picked up at the outlet in Osh Kosh last June.
Abi was thrilled with her new pajamas and her two books. Of course each book had an element of magic and one is about unicorns.
Doug got some cute pajamas and a classic.
My jammies and the third book in the Matched series...
Cute Christmas Eve girls...
At that point Maddy said she was ready for bed so we put her in her room. But then I remembered that we hadn't put out the magic reindeer food so we got her back out of bed and let the girls run out to the front yard to dump it out.

After that Maddy went back to bed and we went back to the Lego set and movies until 7 when Abi announced that she was ready for bed too. I couldn't believe both girls were in bed asleep by 7:30 but I guess they were a little anxious for Santa to come!

Christmas Eve Lego set

We have a tradition of pulling out a big Lego set on Christmas Eve for Doug and Abi to put together during the day. This year Doug wanted to get something new and surprise the girls.
We used it for the advent activity of the day and the girls got to unwrap it having no idea what it was.
Abi was so excited to see the Winter Christmas Village...
It was such a great day. We spent the day watching movies and putting together the village.
Doug's movie choice: Kung Fu Panda
Okay so not a Christmas move but the first time Doug watched it was on Christmas day so he feels like it is.
My choice: An Avonlea Christmas
The girls had many choices through the day so I won't list them all. Even little Maddy had such a fun time trying to put things together... and taking apart things that were already put together.

One of my favorite things about this set is that the fireplace lights up.
Abi and the finished cottage...
We also enjoyed some Phineas and Ferb Christmas while we finished it up.
