Making a Jack-O-Lantern
When we went to the pumpkin patch we got this little pumpkin that Abi picked out. We had planned on getting another bigger one but.... we had a lot of fun carving the little one. I had seen an idea of cutting from the bottom instead of the top because it makes it easier to clean it out since so much of the seed gunk sticks to the bottom. I tried it and it is so true. It was awesome. I cut a circle in the bottom and then Abi told me she wanted me to carve it to look like her big plastic jack o lantern so I did the shapes and then she helped me poke them out. Then she poked holes in the back with her poker. IT was so much easier to light it with the bottom out- I just lit the candle and then stuck the pumpkin over it. We had such a great time cleaning out the pumpkin. Abi used the scooper to scoop out the seeds and she loved it.

Dang it! I wish I had read your post before we did our pumpkins! That would make it much easier for the candles!
That's a great idea to carve from the bottom! I'll have to remember that for next year.
