The Hills are Alive

On the 18th my mom, Abi, and I went to Scera outdoor theater in Orem to see a production of The Sound of Music.
I was so impressed. There were some amazingly talented people involved.

It was a little hard for me to find information about it before I went so I was unsure of what to expect. They have a lot of sections at different prices. You can sit on the grass or rent a chair but those are first come first serve. We decided to pay a couple dollars more to get the reserved section..
I am so glad we did!
The reserved section has chairs. They are outdoor chairs but they were comfortable enough. We had a perfect view of the stage and were really close.
Abi loved it. I wasn't sure if she would or not because we haven't watched the movie together. But when Maria came back and the children were running to her, I peeked at Abi and she had the biggest smile on her face. It was really cute.
I will definitely be going to Scera again!

This is the Place

The next day we went to This is the Place park. My mom came along with us.
I had never been here and since it was another stop on the connect pass we were excited to go.
I dressed the girls in their pioneer outfits.
When we first got there we were fresh and energetic and excited.
We toured the church...

Our favorite part was the little village of tiny houses/ buildings that the girls played in. They loved it.

It also had a little train.

After that we went over to the little farm area.
They got to ride ponies. Abi loved it. Maddy was saying she wanted them to stop the whole time.

We did the petting zoo...

By this time we were all getting hot and hungry.
We stopped at the little bakery and got ice cream. The girls had cones. My mom and I both had a root beer float.

My float was short lived as I spilled it all down the front of me. Then I went in the bathroom and cleaned it off so I was still all wet but at least not sticky. Coming out of the bathroom I slipped on some water and fell, hurting my arm and getting scraped up a bit.
At this point we went around seeing buildings and doing crafts.

That little speck up the road is Abi. The train that goes around the park passed us while we were in the wood shop and she went chasing after it.
We stopped in the candy store ,which sold modern toys strangely enough rather than pioneer toys, and bought some cheap candy to take home. By the time we got on the train we decided to just have it then.
This farmhouse of Brigham Young's was very pretty..

Our last stop was the schoolhouse..

At this point there was still a lot to see but we were done. .
We got into our van and had our picnic in the parking lot and then drove home.

Snowbird

Since we were already up Little Cottonwood Canyon we decided to go up to Snowbird. Our connect passes included one tram ride so this gave us a great opportunity to go do that.
When we got to the tram there ended up being over an hour and a half wait because it had been struck by lightning the night before. They had to run it a few times and fix all the mechanical issues that had caused.
We walked around and looked at all of the fun things they have there now and then I got the girls some ice cream.

Finally we went in and got in line and waited the rest of the time until they let us on.

I had been on the tram before but it was a long time ago. I was a little nervous since I am afraid of heights. And I wasn't sure how the girls would do.
But once it got going it was just pure fun. The girls loved it. I loved it.
It was beautiful!

We hung out at the top for a while. It is called Hidden Peak and is 11,000 feet.

I tried to get a really cute picture of the girls while we were waiting to get back on... but they wouldn't stop being goofy...
going back down...
