Salon time

Abi has had her hair cut a couple of times but it has always been at one of the kid specific salons like Cookie Cutters. When she decided she wanted to get her hair cut again she wanted to go where I go. I go to the school in town but it is really nice and so to her it feels like a really fancy grown up salon.
Her hair was down past her hips and was causing her a lot of issues with it always being tangled and getting in her way. Although she really wants her hair to be as long as Rapunzel's she finally decided not having as many tangles would be better.
I got this shot of her when she was first sitting in the chair deciding the length.
Then she got to have her hair washed in the sink. She loved this. Most of the time she was just grinning and everyone was stopping to watch and say how cute she was.
My normal stylist wasn't able to make it so we had a girl I didn't know but she did a great job. Abi had a hard time sitting perfectly still and she would start looking around the salon at the other people. She had a lot of patience and did such a good job.
Abi loved the experience because she felt "grown up" as well as all the attention she got. Stylists and the instructors kept coming over and telling her that people pay a lot of money to get hair like hers. That made her feel good.
Here is a shot in the lobby area after her cut.
In the parking lot after....

It is still very long but they cut off about 5 inches.

Girls night

We have a really great group of girls out here in our ward and I have recently re-instated girls nights. This month we decided to go to the midnight showing of Hunger Games.
I got there around 7:20ish last night and then everyone else came in through the night. They let us sit in the theater around 9 and I have to say the time flew by. It was such fun!
As you can see, we had a couple guys infiltrate girls night.
After I took the above picture someone said I needed to be in it so I decided to be a goofball and try to do one of those self portraits that are all serious. But my camera takes pictures about ten seconds after you push the button and by then I was laughing.

bottom row left to right:  Jessica, Jessica's husband Captain Awesome, Deeanna, Me, and Emma.
I really enjoyed the movie and had no trouble staying up which surprised me although I was really wired from all the caffeine I drank! It was a fun night with great people!

I love you and I never won't

Abi spends a lot of time doing art. The other night she made me this 'challenge'. I had to unscramble the words. She gave me pictures to help. As you can see, the first word was easy. I. Love was simple. The end had me confused for a minute until she told me the 'hehehe' part was the dog panting under the sun. My answer is in the left box.
Abi has really been having fun making little paper butterflies and frogs. She decided to turn these ones into Jack and Jill...
Then she brought me this note. It is our new family motto...
"I love you and I never won't."

Maddy num nums

I know she isn't appropriately dressed for the blog... but I just think it is so funny how Maddy lines up all her friends on the stairs. As you can see, the Little Einsteins have now become part of her Mickey/ Minnie group.
Abi and Maddy made a mess the other day with a bunch of games...
Maddy kept doing this weird thing jumping on the twister mat counting and then coming over to me and showing me her fingers.

I decided to take a video of this game she was doing and then she only did it once and then went all goofy on me...

Then she was mad about something and retreated to her whining chair- yes when she gets upset she always gets in that chair and rolls around. It must understand her.

St. Patricks Day

I used some labels off of Pinterest for our breakfast Saturday morning and we had green milk.
Then I sent the girls on a little scavenger hunt around the house with clues.
Abi looking under the big chair....
Maddy imitating her...
Abi figuring out a clue...

the last clue led them to the fridge where they found the green bowl of goodness...
Later, we went to the lake for a picnic. I was shocked at how cold it was when we got over there. It was warm in our neighborhood all day but it was freezing while we were eating lunch!
I 'stamped' the sandwiches with shamrocks and then we just had basic things that came in green packages.

After lunch we went to the library. In their fun room they had set up all sorts of St. Patrick's Day crafts...
I took this picture to try to capture the huge welt like bump on Maddy's forehead and welt/scrape on her cheek. As we were going into the library the little gate thing they have swung back and hit her in the head and bounced her off the other one. Poor thing.

Afterward we went over to the little park right next to the library to play for a few minutes.

At home the girls had a really gross looking dinner of green mashed potatoes, green macaroni and cheese, and green beans.

Little winner

Last friday night they had a spring family fun night at Abi's school. They were doing a basket raffle. The girls were so excited to go!

We bought $5 worth of tickets which got us 6 tickets. We put them in 6 different baskets and secretly hoped to win all of them while I figured we wouldn't win any.
BUT
Abi actually won the basket she put her ticket in. It is a little baking set. It is really fancy and nice and worth about $100. It has 4 plates, a mini cupcake pan, a cupcake stand, a mixing bowl, and a pie plate. She was also pretty happy that it came in this cute dollhouse looking box.

Maddy moments

A few weeks ago I spent some time getting some cute pictures of little Maddy.
her hair is growing so fast!

We also got a good mail package from Doug's parents.
One day Maddy was standing in the doorway looking outside at this bird and the bird was standing there just looking at her. It seriously sat there, head cocked to the side, staring at her for about 5 minutes before I got kind of creeped out and opened the window. It flew away.
Maddy likes to line up her 'friends' on the stairs...

and build towers...

Apparently Annie had been naughty.
